Updating the SATA drivers for my motherboard (these were already at their most up to date version) I browsed many posts and followed some steps from a "Samsung Dave" but to no avail. I see that many other users are having this same issue. I would upload an image but I do not see an option for that. However now when I load Magician, it says "This drive is not supported" as well as "Unable to detect" Interface, "N'A" beside AHCI mode and "Not supported" for RAPID mode. The PC booted as normal when I turned it on, and the greater space showed in the 'C' drive.
I then turned my PC off, and simply swapped out the smaller one, for the bigger one inside my case. I used the Samsung Data Migration software to clone my smaller Samsung SSD onto my new larger SSD. Previously I had a 250GB 840 EVO, which worked perfectly via the Magician software. %uFEFFIn SATA non-RAID mode, the drives worked fine.JUst upgraded to a 1TB Samsung SSD EVO 860. I repeated this process swapping the SATA cables from Liteon to Samsung.Ĭonclusion, some drives simply aren't compatible with AMI RAID.
Windows installer only saw the RAID drives, and didn't see the Samsungs at all. Windows installer after loading the RAID driver would only see the LITEON single drives, not the Samsungs in RAID.įinally I put just the LITEON drives in RAID 0, and left the Samsungs as single drives. So I tried making a RAID with just the Samsung drives. I backed up the RAID, reclaimed the drives and set the new raid for all 4 drives. So I thought if 2 was good, 4 would be better. I had these in RAID 0, and it worked like a charm and greatly increased the speed - something many claim won't happen with an SSD. Actually one is 240GB, the other is 256GB. The original 2 drives were inexpensive LITEON 256GB drives. I had a 2 drive RAID on my system, and wanted to expand it to 4. Some drives simply aren't compatible with on-board (AMI for example) RAID controllers. Others have the same experience with various motherboards etc.
Found out I'm not the only one with this issue, and the wizard ran perfectly on a conventional HDD. There is a show stopper bug on this model of Samsung SSD when you run DC promo on your newly installed server. Wasted 3 days on this, including 10+ hours engaged with Microsoft Support.
